Account Officer

Position: Full-Time

Location: Janakpurdham, Dhanusha

Job Summary:

The Account Officer is responsible for overseeing the financial operations of Binaytara Cancer Trust in Janakpur. This role includes budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and ensuring compliance with accounting principles and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Bookkeeping and Financial Management:
    • Accurately record income and expenses.
    • Maintain financial records, including accounts payable/receivable.
    • Manage petty cash and cash flow projections.
  2. Banking and Cash Management:
    • Perform monthly bank reconciliations.
    • Write cheques and submit them for approval.
    • Manage banking relationships and transactions.
    • Monitor and manage hospital cash flow.
  3. Budgeting and Financial Planning:
    • Assist in developing financial plans and annual budget requests.
    • Track actual vs. budgeted expenditures, reporting discrepancies.
    • Analyze budget variances and recommend cost controls.
  4. Tax Compliance:
    • Prepare and file tax/VAT returns as per legal requirements.
    • Stay updated on tax law changes and ensure compliance.
    • Handle tax filings, audits and liaise with tax authorities.
  5. Vendor and Supplier Coordination:
    • Coordinate timely payments to vendors and suppliers.
    • Maintain proper documentation for vendor agreements.
  6. Financial Reporting:
    • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
    • Present financial reports to senior management.
    • Ensure compliance with accounting principles and internal controls.
  7. Payroll Management:
    • Manage the payroll process, including salaries, deductions, and benefits.
    • Ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations related to payroll.
    • Coordinate with external payroll service providers if necessary.
      8. Liaison and Additional Responsibilities
    • Liaise with management, department heads and external stakeholders.
    • Assist in preparing proposal and project evaluation reports.
    • Identify new funding opportunities.
    • Support the administration department as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Proven experience in accounting of at least 3 years, preferably in a healthcare or nonprofit environment.
  • Strong understanding of Nepali accounting standards and tax regulations.
  • Proficiency in using accounting software and MS Office.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication skills in both English and Nepali.
